2014 Ringier Technology Innovation Awards Winners for the Metalworking Industry Announced

The Innovation Awards have been designed to drive innovation in the China metalworking industry. Following a strict selection process of independent panel of judges, the 2014 Innovation Awards Selection continues to use online voting. The 42 winning companies featured their innovative products and technologies across 12categories, including Machine Tools for Turning, Milling, Boring, Grinding, Gear Cutting; Sheet Metal, Wire and Tube Working Machines, Metal Forming Machine Tools; Additive Manufacturing; Special Manufacturing Technology; Tools, Abrasives, Clamping Devices, Measuring Tools and System; CAD/CAM Software and CNC system; Functional Tools and Accessories; Fluid Coolant and Lubricant; Machining Tools for Energy Conservation and Emissions Reduction; Total Solution; Automation; Other products or technologies.

 

Because the Chinese manufacturing demands more advanced products and technologies to meet their upgrades and transformation, we have awarded another 10 companies, which bring us promising technologies and products. The competition was held every year since 2006, accompanied by China’s booming metalworking industry for nine years now. The purpose of the Awarding is to encourage, acknowledge and reward those individuals and companies who have developed new ideas, methodologies, products and technologies for production efficiency, cost effectiveness and user convenience, which results in energy saving and a more responsible clean manufacturing process in the metalworking industry.

 

The award ceremony was held at the Crowne Plaza Century Park Shanghai Hotel on November 6th2014. Winners received awards for their innovative products and technologies which drive development in China’s metalworking industry.

There are 110 entries submitted from 95 international and local companies. Though the number of companies and entries slightly decreased, the degree of technology innovation has hit the record high. In the newly added category, “Additive Manufacturing”, DMG MORI SEIKI Machine Tools and Nanjing Zhongke Raycham Laser Technology became the winner by their “LASERTEC 65 Additive Manufacturing” and “Prodesk 3D” respectively. Though 3D is not the engine but a wheel of the train, it can also effectively improve the metalworking industry as a supplementary technology. Also worth mentioning is the category of “Cutting Tools”, which has attracted the 1-tier and 2-tier companies to participate in the unprecedentedly competitive activity. The innovation awards program received more than 1,000 online votes within two weeks just after the beginning of the vote and over half of them are effectual. The Iscar won more than 200 votes for their Penta IQGrip, making them true to their reputation.

 

Mr. Michael Hay, President of Ringier Trade Media said, “One of the most important elements in any Awards issuing Program is that it must be honest, fair transparent and that it should truly identify -in our case – Innovation. Ringier’s judging process for the Awards is completely neutral, objective and fair. It is the independent panel of experts – the judges who play the key role in the selection of winners and not Ringier. These judges cannot be bought, and we cannot be bought. Nominations are open to everybody in the industry and the final winners are selected solely on their merit – and nothing more. Moreover, Ringier Metalworking Innovation Awards is the only Award that not only focuses on the suppliers who introduce the products or technologies but recognizes end users that show Innovation in their manufacturing process and or product design".

Mr. Tang Bo from Shanghai Heavy Equipment Manufacturing Trade Association, also a member of the judges, has pointed out that we are facing the big time of great challenges and opportunities meanwhile in metalworking on the award ceremony. With the competitive market all over the world, only the innovation in technology and product can make a company survive, even a country stronger. 2014 is the beginning year of the thirteenth “Five Years Plan” in China. Under the environment, lots of companies are keen on seeking for a brand new path to explore the technology, the mode and the industry. Many of them achieved something as we can see.
