A five-month long search for the winners of the 2016 Ringier Technology Innovation Awards – Food & Beverage Industry culminated with 25 awardees on August 25 in Guangzhou, China. The awardees shared their big moments with the panel of judges, experts from industry associations and media representatives during the award. This year, the award ceremony was held in conjunction with Functional Beverage and Nutritious Food Summit 2016 on August 25-26.

From entries of 50 companies and 55 products, 25 products among 5 categories were finally nominated as winners by the independent panel of judges, as well as through online voting by food and beverage industry’s readers and end-users. Awardees include: DSM China, TCI Co., Ltd.| Shanghai BioScience Co., Ltd., Rousselot China Region, Ingredion China Limited, Greatview Aseptic Packaging Co., Ltd., Endress+Hauser (China) Automation Co., Ltd., Hanovia China and many others.

If we look closely at the selected products and technologies of this year, we can see some important industry trends; The most competitive category of the award is the Food & Beverage Ingredients-Functional, which is very much tied to the development trends of China F&B industry—health & nutrition, and food’s functionalization. Judges gave high points to Bimuno^® GOS from Clasado Biosciences (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., AND MEG-3^TM 3C Concentrated Omega-3 from DSM, they think these products break through some of the industry’s key technical problems, and offer significant health benefits.

In the category of Food & Beverage Processing Technologies, judges were deeply impressed by the Promass 100 Coriolis Flowmeter from Endress+Hauser (China) Automation Co., Ltd. and The Valve Terminal for a Safety-related Shut-off Functionality from Bürkert Contromatic (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., these products are light and compact, can be integrated seamlessly with most control systems, so as to achieve efficient and safe production of food and beverage.

Extending food shelf life and traceability are two big issues of F&B packaging. Among the products of Food & Beverage Packaging Technologies category, T 800 Traysealer from Multivac (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd. was highly regarded by the judges; it can meet the needs of diversified vacuum skin packaging and achieve shelf-life extension. Unique QR Codes on Aseptic Packaging from Greatview Aseptic Packaging Co., Ltd. can follow the tracking of the whole lifecycle of the products, and enhance the brand effect.

This year, the “The Innovators of The Year” award was finally given to Quantum Hi-Tech (China) Biological Co., Ltd. for their winning products -- “FOS National Standard Sample”.
