Ringier Trade Media Ltd. and its magazine - China Food Manufacturing Journal have recently announced the winners recently of the 2013 Ringier Technology Innovation Awards for the Food and Beverage Industry. Following a strict selection process of the independent judge panel, with reference to the results of online voting, 22 winning companies featured their innovative products across 5 categories: Food& Beverage Ingredients, Processing, Packaging, Food Safety and Others. Following a strict selection process of the independent judge panel, with reference to the results of online voting, 22 winning companies featured their innovative products across 5 categories: Food& Beverage Ingredients, Processing, Packaging, Food Safety and Others. The Award aims to commend the contributions of companies’ promoting the development of domestic food & beverage industry.

The grand Awards ceremony was held at the 2013 Food Ingredients, Health Ingredients and Natural Ingredients Asia-China Show (Fi Asia-China Hi Ni China 2013) in the Shanghai New International Expo Center on June 26, 2013. More than 100 high-level delegates from winning companies such as Matsutani Chemical, ABAC R&D, Tate & Lyle, PCM and Metrohm China, participated together with Awards judges, VIP buyers attending the tradeshow and industry media. Winners received awards for their innovative products which drive development in China’s food and beverage industry. Meanwhile, all winners received a free showcase opportunity at the most traffic-attractive space at FiA 2013 where trade show visitors were able to learn more about of the winning products.

Co-organized by Ringier Trade Media and its magazine China Food Manufacturing Journal, together with 2013 Food Ingredients, Health Ingredients and Natural Ingredients Asia-China Show (Fi Asia-China Hi Ni China 2013), Ringier Technology Innovation Awards for the Food and Beverage Industry is now in its’ seventh successful year.

Mr. Michael R Hay, President of Ringier Trade Media, explains: “This event has been designed to drive innovation in China’s pumps and valves industry. As a celebratory platform, the purpose of the Awards are to encourage, acknowledge and reward those individuals and companies that have developed a new idea, a new methodology, a new product or a new technology for production efficiency, cost effectiveness, or user convenience, which results, for example, in energy saving and more responsible clean manufacturing.”

This year, the Food & Beverage Industry Innovation Awards attracted 60 entries from 42 international and local companies. Following a strict selection process, the independent judging panel selected 22 products across 5 categories as the final winners of the Award of which 12 are new winners.

Influenced by the trend of health and nutrition, nutriceutical ingredients are still the big winners. Among them, Matsutani Chemical’s Fibersol -2 resistant dextrin, Pharmachem Laboratories’ Phase 2 white kidney bean extract, Biothera’s Wellmune WGP Yeast Beta Glucan and TCI’s CitriSlim: The extract of unripened Ponkan orange won the Awards first time, and judges are impressed by their innovative concept and extensive application value.

In addition, as the more complicated food composition and factory automation degree increased, we saw the efficiency, sensitivity and fast detection technology in the award-winning products also occupy a space for one person. For example, Mettler-Toledo’s SevenExcellence Multiparameter Meter use innovative electrode management intelligent technology, achieve high efficiency and multi parameter test. Metrohm China’s 892 Rancimat can determine the oxidation stability of natural oils easily and reliably.

The show partner and representative from the judge panel who presented the Awards to winners included Ms. Natasha Berrow, Brand Director of UBM Live; Mr. Feng Fusheng, Vice Secretary-general of Shanghai Sugar-make Food Association; Mr. Liu Xiaojie, R&D Director from Hangzhou Joyoung Soybean Milk Industry Co., Ltd.; Mr. Ma Zhiyin, Technical Director of Shanghai Food Research Institute.
