The grand Awards ceremony was held at PCHi 2014 in the Shanghai SNIEC on February 19, 2014. More than 150 high-level delegates from the winning companies, such as Merck, Ashland, Symrise, Bayer, participated together with the Awards judges, VIP buyers attending the tradeshow, Ringier magazine readers and industry media. The 2014 China Personal Care & Cosmetics Innovation Awards is co-organized by Ringier Trade Media and its magazine HAPPI China and Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions and its trade show - The Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients 2014 (PCHi 2014). Mr. Michael R Hay, President of Ringier Trade Media, explains: “As one of the Ringier Technology Innovation Awards, CPCCI has been designed to drive innovation in China’s personal care and cosmetics industry. As a celebratory platform, the purpose of the Awards are to encourage, acknowledge and reward those individuals and companies that have developed a new idea, a new methodology, a new product or a new technology for production efficiency, cost effectiveness, or user convenience, which results, for example, in energy saving and more responsible clean manufacturing.”.

For this year’s awards winners, we set the bar even higher. The aim? To make the word ‘Innovation’ special, not just a cliché. First of all, stricter and quantifiable criteria were set up to make the term ‘Innovation’ more specific. Secondly, all applicants were required to submit comprehensive scientific proof to substantiate their claims. And thirdly, after extensive reviews by the judges, only those winning a majority of votes were given the title ‘innovation’.

This year’s Awards, 15 out of 72 products become the winners, covering 9 categories, ranging from active and functional ingredient to packaging and processing. As such, Actopontine from Ashland, and SymHair® Force 1631 from Symrise win our this year’s top award, Breakthrough Innovation Award. Winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony at PCHi 2014. This provides the winning companies with a great opportunity for brand exposure and recognition at the trade show.

In addition, continued Mr. Hay: “The judging process for CPCCI is completely neutral, objective and fair. It is the independent panel of experts – the judges who play the key role in the selection of the winners, not Ringier. These judges cannot be bought, and we cannot be bought. Nominations are open to everybody in the industry and the final winners are selected solely on their merit. Let me state: no other Awards ceremony is as Neutral as CPCCI! We stake our reputation on it.”

Next year’s Awards entries will open in July, 2014.
