Winners of 2017 Ringier Technology Innovation Awards - Plastics Industry announced

A five-month long search for the winners of the 2017 Ringier Technology Innovation Awards – Plastics Industry culminated with 32 awardees on March 9 in Shanghai, China. The awardees shared their big moments with the panel of judges, experts from industry associations and media representatives during the 12th anniversary of this prestigious award. This year, the awarding ceremony was held in conjunction with 2017 Plastics & Rubber Innovative Materials Processing and Technology Application Summit & Mini Expo on March 9-10.
From the entries, 32 products under the various categories were finally nominated as winners by the independent panel of judges, as well as through websites and Wechat voting by plastics end-users. Awardees include: Ningbo Shuangma Machinery Industry Co.,Ltd., Engel Machinery (Shanghai) Co.,Ltd., Haitian Plastics Machinery Group Co.,Ltd., Jiangsu BEIER Machinery Co.,Ltd., Ningbo Well-lih Robots Technology Co.,Ltd., Dow Chemical (China) Investment Co.,Ltd., shanghai KUMHO-SUNNY Plastics CO.,LTD., Shanghai Sunny Technology Co.,Ltd. and many others.
After three months of entry submission and nomination, close to 73 products from 66 companies were chosen for the final competition. Products cover 9 categories: Plastics Raw Materials & Additives, Injection Molding, Extrusion Molding, Blow Molding, Automation, Auxiliary Equipment, Molds & Components, Recycling Machinery and Other Innovative Products/Technologies
Also, we set up a special category – “The Innovators of The year” to recognize an individual or a team of engineers or R&D who are behind some new technology, or product design or application. This individual or team has shown the courage, skill and creativity to push the boundary in their field. This year, the award was finally given to Ningbo Shuangma Machinery Industry Co.,Ltd. for the winning product “Carbon-Fiber Products Intelligent Moulding Line”.
In recent years, China Plastics industry has entered a critical period of transformation and upgrading. Eliminating out of date production capabilities, improving product quality, and optimizing industrial structures, environmental concerns and output are the four key elements that are influencing the development of plastics industry. With the steady growth of industries like automotive, medical, household appliance, electronic and electrical, packaging, construction and toys, these downstream markets have driven plastics industry to accelerate technical revolution. As a result, a number of highly promising new materials, new technologies and new equipment have emerged in the market. Therefore, plastics companies must speed up technical innovation in order to stand not just in China but globally. This Awards program–is recognized in China as a highly respected and credible platform on which to show case such innovation.
As an event that recognizes innovation, the Award itself has been evolving and innovating over the years. For this year’s award, there are two highlights that need to be mentioned. Firstly, the voting process has become more open, besides the selection by the judges panel, voting from WeChat and websites has also been considered. Nearly ten thousand users voted from Wechat this year. Secondly, the submitting companies had to provide more third-party credentials in addition to the basic description of the products, and these included patent certifications and even experimental data sheets. These materials are very important references for the judges to decide whether the products or technologies are truly innovative.
Honesty, fairness and transparency give Ringier Technology Innovation Awards a wider attention and national recognition over the years, according to Ringier Trade Media Limited, the organizer of this yearly event.
