A five-month long search for the winners of the 2016 Ringier Technology Innovation Awards – Metalworking Industry culminated in 52 winners announced on April 12 in Shanghai. Among the winners were TRUMPF (China) Co., Ltd., China Electronics Technology Group Corporation NO.46 Research Institute, Fischer Shanghai Spindle Technologies, Inc., PT Photonic Tools GmbH, United Grinding (Shanghai) Ltd., Makino (China) Co.,Ltd., etc. who shared their big moments with the panel of judges, experts from industry associations and media representatives at the 11^th edition of this annual event.

This year, the awards ceremony was held in conjunction with High Performance Machining Technology Conference 2016 – Precision Machining & Metal Forming which was held from April 12^th to 13^th in Shanghai.

After a 5-month nationwide Entry & Nomination process, close to 53 products from 114 entries across 10 different categories which are ①Metal Cutting Machine tools（turning, milling, boring, grinding, gear machining ②Metal Forming Machine tools (sheet metal, wire and tube working machines) ③Special Manufacturing Technology (Laser Cutting, EDM, PAM, ECM) ④Tools, Grinding, Clamping Devices ⑤Functional Components ⑥Software & CNC System ⑦Measuring Tools & System ⑧Coolants & Lubricants⑨Automation ⑩Others were chosen for the final competition. If we look closely at the selected products and technologies for this year, we can see that Efficiency, Precision, Automation and Environmental Protection are the focus of innovative technologies. China made Products such as a three dimensional, five-axis linkage 3D printing system and the Z series Gear Measuring Center where singled out by the judges in their particular categories as being reflective of the rapid developments made by Chinese makers.

There were 3 highlights of 2016 Ringier Technology Innovation Awards-Metalworking Industry. First of all, worth to mention is that laser technologies was added into several categories, because this year, the industrial laser innovation award is combined with metalworking industry innovation awards. The decision is based on the fact that laser technology for industrial purposes is primarily used for metal cutting and to a lesser degree, welding purpose, which clearly is part of the metalworking sector.

Secondly, “The Innovators of The Year” was also added, to reward a person or team who have led the development of a new product or technology. Those chosen with most votes from the professional judging panel and end-users stood on stage and shared their story with those industry professionals.

Last but not least, the ceremony was connected with the interesting videos, including the nomination for the innovative products and judging comments video. What is more, the judge onsite comments light up the awards presentation. All winners felt honored to be recognized and entertained by the innovative awarding process.

Honesty, fairness and transparency have won Ringier Technology Innovation Awards wide attention and recognition, according to award organizer Ringier Trade Media Limited.
