The 2021 ASEAN Smart Logistic, Warehouse, and E-commerce Summit was virtually held on June 30, 2021 with over 150 people registered. Organised by Ringier Events, the virtual conference opened the event with new research on smart logistics, automation & robot, smart transportation and smart warehousing. The summit was supported by Vietnam Logistics Business Association, and The Cold Chain Association of the Philippines.

The trends in global procurement, sales, and localised production are becoming more and more obvious. The professionalisation of the logistics industry is not only the inevitable result of social division of labour, but also an inevitable requirement of the market economy. The third party logistics organisation is an ideal choice for enterprises. It can save logistics costs and improve logistics efficiency for enterprises. The logistics industry is a compound or aggregate industry formed by the industrialisation of logistics resources.

ASEAN has a population of 629 million and a GDP of US$2.4 trillion. In recent years, it has been growing at an annual rate of about 5%, just like the rise of a new economic power. The free movement of goods and people between ASEAN member states is an important mission of the organisation to improve the living standards of Southeast Asia, which means that governments in the region pay great attention to transportation and logistics.

Thus, areas of concern in the South East Asia region were discussed in equal detail by Mr. Zhong Guo Goh, Innovation Manager, DHL Asia Pacific Innovation Centre, who spoke about “Shaping the Future of Logistics.” Ms. Yshana Wong, Sr. Associate, Business Development – Seller Services, Lazada Philippines, discussed the topic of “Logistics in E-commerce.” On the other hand, Mr. Andy Ooi, Chief Executive Officer, OAS Global Logistics (M) Sdn. Bhd, shared about “Hallal Logistics.”

Industry leaders addressed the hottest topics

In the face of market changes and the increasingly fierce competition in various industries, how to improve production efficiency and reduce operating costs is a question for every operator. Intelligent warehouse logistics system is a very important part of enterprise management. Intelligent warehousing and logistics system equipment can not only save labour and improve transportation efficiency, but also quickly and accurately shorten the time of purchase and delivery, and reduce the cost of production and purchase. With the promotion of network e-commerce and the integration of electromechanical technology, manufacturers can effectively enhance corporate competition.

With all these market changes and tough competition, the virtual summit focused on bringing new technologies to the market, with inputs from Ren Yi, Vice President of Marketing & Oversea Sales Director, ELITE Robot on the “Application of robots and smart logistics warehousing.” Meanwhile, both Mr. Hamacher Stefan, Solution Sales Director Food and Belt Drives, Interroll Group and Mr. Smit Martijn, Solution Sales Director Smart Pallet Handling, Interroll Group talked about “Advanced conveying and pallet handling solution – food industry” in varying degrees of their expertise.
