BASF developed a new bioactive, PeptAIde^® 4.0, a natural peptide revealed by artificial intelligence, to protect skin and scalp/hair against silent inflammation.

   Set of four distinct, novel peptides and the natural plant food source-- rice was identified: pep_I16R, pep_S17R, pep_G14R and pep_F12L. A controlled enzymatic hydrolysis process was developed to unlock the 4 peptides from rice proteins and to product PeptAIde^® 4.0. Nevertheless, beyond these 4 target peptides, PeptAIde^® 4.0 contains many peptides also released by the enzymatic hydrolysis of the rice protein.

The multifunctional activity of PeptAIde^® 4.0 to protect the skin, scalp and hair were proved by in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo test. It can stimulate the epidermal barrier protein, involucrin and filaggrin by human keratinocyte. Significantly inhibit elastase and MMP12. Revitalizing effect on hair follicles on dermal papilla fibroblasts. These in vitro tests were conducted with PeptAIde^® 4.0 comparatively to the commercial rice protein hydrolysate to evidence that PeptAIde^® 4.0 results a better bioactive efficacy.

   Clinical study proved, that PeptAIde^® 4.0 applied in a leave on body lotion on dry legs, can increase skin hydration and comfort. Applied in a leave on body lotion on the abdomen, can increase body skin firming. Applied in a rinse off shampoo, can have significant anti-irritation effect for a healthy scalp.
